Villarreal boss lauds Danjuma after first Champions League goal

Arnaut Danjuma has received high praise from Villarreal coach, Unai Emery, after he hit target for the La Liga club to draw 2-2 with Atalanta in Group F of the UEFA Champions League.

Danjuma came off the bench on the hour before he clinically finished off inside the box after he was put through on goal in the 73rd minute to put Villarreal 2-1 in front.

Villarreal coach Emery praised his new signing.

“Danjuma is in the process of adaptation, but he understands everything quickly and he performed well,” he saluted the forward.

The forward, who has featured for Holland in friendlies but he is still eligible to play for the Super Eagles, has already opened his goals account in La Liga.

The Spanish club will next visit Manchester United in a fortnight in continuation of the competition.

Emery said Young Boys 2-1 over United has complicated the group.

“I wouldn’t rule out a surprise (in the group) because I’ve experienced them in the Champions League and Europa League,” he offered.

“Teams in Europe have a touch more motivation.”
