Villarreal defender Pau Torres eager to hear from Man Utd

Villarreal defender Pau Torres is keen to hear from Manchester United.

The Manchester Evening News says Torres would be interested in a move to United this summer.

United are one of the top sides currently looking into a possible move for Torres, 24, ahead of an uncertain transfer window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is prioritising a move for a new centre-back this summer and Torres’ natural ability as a left-footer make him an ideal candidate to be the long-term partner for club captain Harry Maguire.

It is believed Torres has a release clause in his current deal which lies in the region of €60million after he penned a contract extension until 2024 two years ago.

However it is understood Villarreal could consider a player-plus-cash offer for Torres if any suitors are unable to match such a figure in the current financial climate.

A number of other Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, are also monitoring the Spanish defender’s situation and Torres would be open to a move to English football.
