WAFU Cup: Flying Eagles coach salutes players after qualifying for final

 

U-20 coach, Paul Aigbogun has given his players a pat on the back for qualifying for the final of the U-20 WAFU Cup after defeating Mali in a penalty shoot-out on Friday night in Lome, Togo.

He hailed the team for the resilient spirit it displayed after coming from a goal down to level scores and go ahead to win the tightly contested encounter 5-4 in penalties.

‘This team has shown great character. It was a tough match against a good Malian side.  Coming out of this game victorious is a good testimony for the players who haven’t played international football before,” he added.

Nigeria will now face Senegal who also defeated Niger in penalties to advance to the final billed for Sunday.

The WAFU Cup is a preparatory tournament for the 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled for Niger
