Recently-promoted Watford have begun talks with Chelsea over the signing of striker Ike Ugbo,
According to The Athletic, the initial talks were said to have taken place earlier this month and there are more planned in a few weeks’ time.
The deal is believed to be worth around £5 million, although the fee has yet to be finalised according to The Athletic.
Ugbo joined Chelsea at Under-10 level but has yet to make a senior appearance for the club.
Domestically, the 22-year-old had loan spells at Scunthorpe United, MK Dons and Barnsley as a youngster, but only managed five goals in 51 outings combined at the three clubs.
But after scoring 13 goals in 29 games for Dutch second tier side Roda JC last season, he has impressed whilst on loan in the Belgian top flight this season.
Cercle Brugge only narrowly avoided relegation this season but the 22-year-old averaged a goal every two games, as he scored 17 times in 34 appearances in all competitions.
The Belgian side had an option to buy the player for £5 million at the end of the loan but The Athletic’s Chelsea writer Simon Johnson claims he would prefer a switch to another club.
Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, Belgium club Genk and Ligue 1’s Monaco are also said to be interested in the striker.
