WCQ: Lone stars ready, fortifies defence ahead Eagles clash

 

Coach of Lone stars of Liberia Peter Butler has injected some new players ahead of Saturday World cup qualifying clash against Super Eagles of Nigeria in Morocco.

The new invitees include Watanga FC goalkeeper Derrick Julu, defenders Mark Pabai of PEC Zwolle in the Netherlands and Jamal Arago of Sabail FK in Azerbaijan. It is understood the Butler is particularly interested in ensuring a fortified backline for the double header against Nigeria and Central African Republic on the 13th and 16th November respectively.

Arago, according to the LFA, featured for the Black Satellites during the qualifiers for the 2013 Africa Youth Championship but didn’t make the final squad due to injury.

Goalie Boison Wynney de Souza, midfielder Justin Paul Salmon and striker Peters Wilson and Sylvanus Nimely all got a recall.

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) over the weekend announced a 22-man squad that has been named by Liberia senior men’s national team head coach Peter Butler.

Butler named three uncapped players in his new squad for the final World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Central African Republic (CAR). Lone stars currently occupy the last place in the group with just three points in the kitty, Nigeria on the other hand lead the group with 9 points with Cape Verde following with seven points in the kitty.
