We have not given up on Onyekuru—Everton

Premier League side, Everton are still keeping tabs on Nigeria international Henry Onyekuru with the hope of securing a work permit this summer for the player.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton, remain hopeful that Onyekuru will be able to meet the work permit criteria based on playing in the Champions League and Europa League for Galatasaray of Turkey where he is on loan and the Nigeria senior national team.

The Blues who fended off interest from Arsenal and Celtic to sign the 21-year old have been quite impressed with his performance, hence the renewed interest.

“Yes, we are doing our work and are aware of everything he is doing,” Silva said.

“It is the same with all of our loan players and at the end of the season we will take a decision

“We are following him like we are all the loan players and, as you know, we have a big number of loan players and we have to do that work and take the right decisions for us,”,” revealed Everton manager, Marco Silva.

Everton’s director of football Marcel Brands who did not watch Onyekuru, feature against Benfica in last night Europa League match has received a good report on the player from his scouting team who watched the match.

The recruitment team have watched Onyekuru 12 times this season and are quite impressed.

‘I’d like to have him at Everton tomorrow’ – said Brands.

Onyekuru was immediately sent on loan to Anderlecht after joining Everton in the hope that a campaign of Champions League football, and in a World Cup year, would improve his chances of being able to play in the Premier League. After playing for a season at Anderlecht, he was loaned to Galatasaray where he has continued to impress.
