West Brom, Leicester: I may play Ndidi as centre back–Rodgers

Wilfred Ndidi could be deployed as a centre back for Sunday’s opening fixture against West Bromwich Albion, Leicester manager, Brendan Rodgers has hinted.

The Nigeria international has been considered owing to the fact that the Foxes have one only centre-back for the trip to the Hawthorns following the suspension of Johnny Evans.

Evans will miss the opener after he was shown a red card in last season’s final fixture against Manchester United.

Added to this is that Wes Morgan and Filip Benkovic are both nursing injuries, leaving Caglar Soyuncu as the only fit center-back for the game against the Baggies.

“He’s one of the best midfield players in the league, that’s his position. I like to have a midfield who can
play in a back three. He’s got the attributes, his reading of the game is very good. If I need to play him there, he will do a good job,” Rodgers told a news conference on Friday.
