West Ham declare Onuachu main target ahead new season

Super Eagles ace Paul Onuachu has become main target for West Ham as they strategise ahead new season .

The 35 goal Genk striker is considered a major hit should the club succeed in getting him into the fold according to latest report

The striker made the move to Europe in 2012 as he joined Danish outfit FC Midtjylland. He was a bit-part player during his first few years at the club, but shone between 2016 and 2019.

Onuachu netted 62 goals from his 116 outings for them during this three-season spell, a form which gingered his move to Belgian outfit Genk ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

The 27-year-old has been on fire for Genk of late. He netted ten times in his debut season and he followed this up with 35 goals in 41 outings in 2020/21.

West Ham are in the market for a new striker and Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur (as per Sport Witness) have reported that Onuachu is on their radar.

They suggest that Genk are after a fee that would blow their record sale “off the table”. They add that West Ham are the “main candidates” currently, but talks are “not yet over” for the striker.
