Why Sowah had to go, Leicester City boss Rodgers explains

Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers, has explained why he sold young talent Kamal Sowah to Club Brugge.

The 21-year-old was sold to the Belgian club in a deal worth around £7m.

Asked by the Leicester Mercury if it was a difficult decision to let Sowah go, Rodgers said: “You have to be fair to the player.

“He did great in Belgium and there was a great market there for him, which shows you by the number that they’ve paid for him, that he’s seen as a talent.

“Just you have to assess it. He wasn’t going to play for us, we’ve got players ahead of him in his position, and he’s at the stage in his career where he wanted to continue progressing.

“Where he’s come from, it’s an amazing story, how well the boy has done. He was fantastic over the course of pre-season, a really humble man who worked hard, played the pre-season games and now gets the chance to continue his career. We wish him all the very best.”
