Wilder ignores emails to fight Joshua

Barry Hearn has revealed Deontay Wilder has ignored “four emails” and “dozens of phone calls” about making a fight against Anthony Joshua.

Joshua is scheduled to make his next ring appearance on April 13 at Wembley against a currently unnamed opponent, with calls for it to be Wilder.

Talk of a potential fight between Joshua and the American has been mounting for months, but nothing is yet to materialize regarding a confirmed bout.

‘We would desperately love to fight Deontay Wilder in Wembley on April 13th,’ Hearn told Love Sports Radio. ‘We have offered him successively more and more. Not just guarantee money, but percentage money. Wilder earned a draw against Tyson Fury in December

But there’s a certain level beyond which we won’t go because AJ is the A-side. ‘Unfortunately to report that so far despite three, four emails, dozens of phone calls.

We haven’t had one response from Deontay Wilder’s team. ‘So sooner or later you take the hint that maybe they don’t want us that bad. But then they’re also, I guess, planning a Tyson Fury rematch.’ Eddie Hearn also recently revealed if Wilder doesn’t want to take the April 13 slot at Wembley, Fury himself could be candidate.
