Super Eagles Captain, Mikel Obi has revealed that the UEFA Champions League glory with Chelsea was more valuable than the African Nations Cup (AFCON) triumph with the Super Eagles, SportingLife.ng reports.

The 31-year-old, who currently ply his trade with Chinese Super League side (CSL) was involved for the Blues when they beat Bundesliga outfit Bayen Munich in 2012 via penalties to win Europe’s biggest club football competition for the first time in their history.

Also, Mikel played a prominent role as an overly underrated Nigerian side surprised all-comers to win the 2013 AFCON, beating Burkina Faso in the final.

“The most memorable moment for me is when we won the Champions League.” Mikel replied a fan on twitter when asked about his most memorable moment in football.

“That’s probably the best moment in my football career until date. Champions League is so special and you don’t get to win it quite often and for us to win it, is quite special and the way and manner we did it was spectacular and playing in Germany against Bayern Munich made it even more special. So, that day and that night was pretty special for me.”

Mikel is expected to lead the Super Eagles out at the 2018 FIFA World as the three-time African champions bid to become the first from the contingent to win the Mundial.
