Wolves ready to listen to offers for Willy Boly

Willy Boly could leave Wolves in the January transfer window after falling in the pecking order under manager Bruno Lage.

The centre-back is expected to be out until early next month due to a calf problem that prevented him from entering the Africa Cup of Nations, where he would have played for Côte d’Ivoire.

Yet sports post understands that Wolves will listen to offers for the Boly, which turns 31 on Feb. 3.

Boly has been a key player in Wolves’ recent success, helping them promote to the Premier League in 2018 and then to seventh consecutive place, as well as an FA Cup semi-final and a Europa League quarter-final.

But last season was difficult for Boly as he contracted Covid-19 and then struggled to regain his top form.

When Lage Nuno replaced Espirito Santo last summer, it quickly became clear that Max Kilman, Conor Coady and Romain Saiss would be his three first-choice centre-backs.

Low is keen to bring another center back this month and has also brought young Dion Sanderson back from a Birmingham loan spell with Saiss at the Cup of Nations with Morocco.

Meanwhile, Wolves are hoping Pedro Neto will return to action next month after a 10-month absence due to injury, with the Portuguese forward is now back at the club’s headquarters in Compton.

Neto is training alone and is scheduled to return in the coming weeks. The 21-year-old was Wolves’ best player last season before suffering a serious knee injury in the 1-0 win over Fulham last April.
