Wrong set of Jerseys threaten Lobi Stars game against Asec
Unconfirmed reports from Abidjan in Ivory Coast has it that the jerseys of Nigeria’s Representative in the CAF Champions League Lobi Stars have been rejected by officials of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) in charge of today’s scheduled for 5pm against Asec Mimosas.
A source close to the team’s camp informed Sportinglife.ng that the team traveled with the wrong sets jersey.
The players also wore different jerseys for training which could attract a fine of 5000 dollars.
“Lobi Stars have contacted a Nigerian in Abidjan (a former player of the club) to help get jerseys for them.
Secondly,Lobi Stars didn’t travel with the CAF badges, training balls and kits provided for them. Now they have no badges attached to their newly sewn jerseys. The team is afraid to borrow CAF badges from Asec Mimosa management for fear of ‘juju,” said the source.
Sportinglife.ng further gathered that CAF will deduct 5000 dollars from their money for this breach of rules if they fail to wear the CAF branded badges during today’s encounter.
Efforts to reach an official of the team was unsuccessful, with further reports stating that the embarrassing situation almost led a fight among the officials.
One Lobi Stars player who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that there was actually a fight in camp adding that he does not know what led to the squabble.
