The England ace has been waging a personal campaign to get Ministers to re-think their decision to cease the provision of free school meal vouchers during the summer.

Rashford’s concerted efforts netted him a major victory after the Government confirmed they would indeed further extend the scheme.

The dramatic turnaround has prompted prominent figures in politics, news and sport to speak out in support of the star, who already has over 200 senior United appearances to his name.

Among them was fellow Brit and WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre. McIntyre took to Twitter to hail Rashford as a “Champion of the People.”

Rashford himself admitted to being overwhelmed by the success of his campaign.

“He Tweeted: I don’t even know what to say.

“Just look at what we can do when we come together, THIS is England in 2020.”

Scottish powerhouse McIntyre is the reigning WWE Champion, having become the first star from the UK to ever win the title when he beat Brock Lesnar back in April.
