You must justify your worth at Napoli, Babangida, others charge Osimhen

Former Super Eagles forward, Tijani Babangida, and other ex-internationals have urged Napoli new man, Victor Osimhen to justify himself with the record-signing deal with the club.

Osimhen became Nigeria’s most expensive player, beating the £30m of Alex Iwobi’s transfer to Everton.

Napoli announced the signing of the Nigerian international from the Ligue 1 outfit last Friday and the former Wolfsburg attacker signed a five-year deal with the Serie A club.

Babangida said Osimhen should guide his loins and bring out the best in him to help Napoli enjoy the huge resources incurred to bring him from Lille in France to Italy.

“Every European club did not just spend money anyhow they must have seen the value and the potential in him and he should have full concentration and score as more goals for the club. They must have watched him and see how he could fit into their plans,” he said.

Babangida who is also the President of the ex-footballers across the country believes Osimhen is a gifted player who has a great future in the game and it is advisable that he manages his career properly.

“Osimhen must score goals that is what Napoli want. Goals in all their games and it shall be well with him,” he told sportinglife.ng

Other ex-internationals like Emmanuel Amuneke, George Finidi, and Sam Sodje also spoke in a similar vein to support Osimhen’s career.

Osimhen’s impressive performances for the Stade Pierre-Mauroy outfit earned him the deal after scoring 18 goals and providing six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions during his one-year stay with the French side.
