Zaha to miss showdown with former club Man United

Wilfried Zaha will remain sidelined as Crystal Palace host Manchester United Wednesday.

Zaha has not played since picking up a hamstring injury against Newcastle at the start of February and is set to miss the reunion with his former club at Selhurst Park.

However, manager Roy Hodgson revealed the winger has returned to light training and could be available for the trip to Tottenham on Sunday.

‘He has returned to training albeit a little bit modified at the start of this week,’ Hodgson said.

‘He looks ready to go again. We’ll have to wait for the green light from medical staff but I think I will be able to welcome him back into the squad soon.’

The winger is the Eagles’ top scorer this season with nine goals and he also has two assists.

Zaha was at United between 2013 and 2015 but was never given a proper run in the team before rejoining Palace.

Palace have only won once since Zaha’s injury, a 2-1 victory over Brighton. They’ve also failed to score in their other three games.

Jeffrey Schlupp and Connor Wickham will be available for the game with United.

A hamstring injury has kept Schlupp out of the side since January while Wickham has not played this season.
