Shearer compares Man Utd striker Martial to Anelka
Newcastle United legend, Alan Shearer, has compared Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial ‘s attitude to that of Nicolas Anelka – a former French striker who was dubbed “Le Sulk.”
The French forward has struggled for game time at United over the past 18 months, after showing an impressive run of form as a center forward during previous coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first full season in charge.
However, Martial has not hit those heights for all of last season, and the first few months of this season.

“Do you think, when you look at his attitude, you see a bit of Martial in him?” Shearer remarked about Anelka on the Match of the Day: Top 10 podcast, to which Gary Lineker replied: “Bit moody?”
Shearer continued: “I don’t mean this as a comparison ability-wise, Anelka was a lot better, no doubt about it.”
“Martial has a lot of ability,” Lineker responded.
“I know he does,” Shearer said.
“But I don’t think he has as much as Anelka.”
