100 Players Jostle In 2023 Lekki Scrabble Classic

Local Organising Committee of the 2023 Lekki Scrabble Classic is promising to leave no stone unturned as preparations for the grand competition hit the final stretch.

This edition tagged LSC2023 is matching the fervour and the panache scrabble tournaments required with high level of preparations to match the intense competition expected for the top prize at a relaxed arena.

The uniqueness which the tournament offers has earned some good reviews from stakeholders as expectations are high due to the high standards the organiser Lekki Scrabble Club is known for.

Now under a new captain Samuel Anikoh, the tournament will now be an annual event.

A critical member of the LOC Emmanuel Egbele who has been known for innovative development in the sport is confident the team of extraordinary gentlemen is ready to serve the best of tournament scrabble experience at the two-day event.

“The LOC for the 2023 Classics is more than ever prepared for this edition” he declared.

“The preparation has been top notch and the LOC and entire members of the Club have been working round the clock to ensure its success. The Ts are being crossed and Is dotted. We want to ensure that all participants will have a great tournament experience that will leave a lasting memory in the minds of all those that will be part of it. “

He continued, “This year, the Classic which is now an annual event and billed to take place proximal to the Nation’s Independence Day celebration will be holding in the prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938. This is a partnership we have secured and we hope it will be mutually beneficial. Players will be able to appreciate this facility with its rich history and all its appearances.”

Egbele further discloses that the prize-money for the winner has been more than doubled to N500,000 from N200,000 naira.

“it’s now a 2-day event with more games to raise the high-octane level. This also means a higher star prize of half a million Naira and other prizes which we would keep under wraps for now that will raise the excitement. We would also go paperless in following the trend and being more environmentally compliant. There are other improvements being put in place that will be revealed as we approach D-Day.”

100 players will play one another over a total of 18 rounds of games in the single category two-day event.
