19-year-old Ofili sets new Nigerian record in 200 metres

U.S. based Track and Field star Favour Ofili has set a new Nigerian record in the 200 metres women.

The 19-year-old set the world leading time of 21.96secs on Friday night at the Tom Jones Memorial championship in Florida USA.

Interestingly, Ofili’s lifetime time also sent Blessing Okagbare’s Nigerian national record of 22.04secs set in 2018 to the archives and is also a U.S collegiate record.

She is the current 200 metres African record holder in indoor athletics, thus becoming the second woman in African history to run sub 22 in the 200 metres dash alongside Olympic silver medalist, Christine Mboma of Namibia, who owns a personal best and African record of 21.78secs outdoor.
