Ex-Nigerian international Nwankwo Kanu has said the decision of Arsene Wenger to quit Arsenal has left a vacuum that will be difficult for his successor to fill.

 

Ex-Nigerian international Nwankwo Kanu has said the decision of Arsene Wenger to quit Arsenal has left a vacuum that will be difficult for his successor to fill.

Writing on social media, Kanu stated : ”Big shoes for anyone to fill,playing for Arsenal under Arsene was one of the best periods of my career, 2 premiership, 2 FA cups.

”The Invincibles, playing with some of the best assembled players, influencing millions of fans in Africa to support this great club.”

Wenger on Friday announced his decision to step down as Arsenal manager at the end of the season after almost two decades in the saddle.

Kanu, who joined Arsenal from Inter Milan in 1999 won the Premier League titles in 2002 and 2004 and two FA Cups under Wenger who won 10 trophies for the Emirates Club.

After spending five years at Arsenal, Kanu transferred to West Brom before moving to Portsmouth.
