NFF, Rohr contact Ndidi over injury

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr have been in regular touch with English Premier League side Leicester City since Wilfred Ndidi got injured on Saturday.

They have also been in contact with the player to know how he is fairing.

Ndidi is one of the players that Super Eagles head coach Rohr can’t afford to lose for the FIFA World Cup in Russia in June owing to his effectiveness in the midfield which he has been anchoring perfectly with captain John Mikel Obi.

This can explain NFF’s worry who know that the player’s absence could affect the tactical plans of Rohr.

To show how much he is appreciated, a top official suggested that the team’s doctor be sent to England to assess the player. It was however turned down on the grounds that the club be allowed to treat the player.

“That would not be necessary since the feedback we are getting from the club since Saturday is positive. Yes we can understand the fears at this critical time but l am sure he will be okay before the World Cup. This is not the time for any player to get injured.

” Look at Argentina as they are sweating on Aguero. So you can understand why we are this worried. Although the club has told us that they are doing their best to make sure he recovers before the World Cup and we want to believe it will be so. I am sure in the coming days we would have the true picture,” an official told SportingLife.ng.

Ndidi suffered a hamstring injury in Leicester’s 5-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and had to be replaced by Aleksandar Dragovic after 51 minutes on the pitch on Saturday at Selhurst Park.
