Abuja will host Eagles, DR Congo friendly–insists Dalung

.Says Port Harcourt is second option

The Minister of Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung is working hard on ensuring that the pitch of the Abuja National Stadium is in good condition to host the Super Eagles’ International friendly match against the Democratic Republic of Congo slated for Monday, May 28, 2018.

The Minister revealed to sports reporters in Abuja at the Grassroots Sports Festival held at the tartan tracks of the Abuja National Stadium that his wish is for the friendly match to be played in Abuja.

“As you can see work is going on speedily as regards the turf of the stadium and I believe that with the rate at which work is going we hope to host the match here. That is our first priority, but if it fails then Port Harcourt will host the match. Port Harcourt is our second option”, the Minister said emphatically.

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick in the company of the Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr recently visited the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt and after inspection Pinnick declared Port Harcourt as the authentic host of the friendly.
