Broja bids Southampton bye as loan spell ends

 

Armando Broja said a fond farewell to Southampton after completing his loan from Chelsea, thanking the fans and his ‘special’ teammates.

Striker Broja, 20, scored nine goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for the south coast club, and will now return to his parents team ahead of an uncertain summer.

He was left out of the squad for the last matchday of the season in a heavy loss to Leicester yesterday, so his last appearance was against Liverpool.

On Instagram, he said, “I just want to start off by saying what a great season it was for me and my family personally.”

“A season full of ups and downs, but no matter what happened, I had incredible family and people who helped me get through it.

“I also want to say a huge thank you to Southampton and the amazing fans for allowing me and believing in me to show what I can do.”

Broja added: ‘I appreciate all the support and love you showed me and the team.

‘Finally, I want to thank the players who taught me so much this year.

I loved every minute with you guys. Honestly, it was something special for me. You have not only become brothers to me, but also family. I’m going to miss you!’

His successful debut season of senior football in England saw him score six times in the Premier League, although he found the net just once after January.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Broja will return to Stamford Bridge to take part in pre-season, where he will be tested ahead of the new campaign.

However, the young ace is reportedly attracting the interest of a host of elite clubs.

Serie A champions AC Milan are following him, according  along with Inter Milan and Napoli. Newcastle and West Ham are also interested.

It is unclear how much Broja would cost if he went ahead in the transfer window, although reports have put his  price tag at £25m.
