Finidi George yet to be contacted on appointment

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has not discussed the contract details of the appointment of former Super Eagles winger, Finidi George before he was announced as the substantive as Super Eagles Coach.

Finidi George who led Super Eagles to two international friendly matches after the former Coach, Jose Peseiro left was announced on Monday afternoon as the replacement for Jose Peseiro and to resume duty with immediate effect.

With this, the Enyimba FC coach becomes Nigeria’s 41st Super Eagles Coach and will be on the touchline in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games in June when Nigeria face South Africa and Benin Republic.

A top NFF official who requested anonymity said the former Ajax Amsterdam winger will be invited for discussion on the amount he will be receiving as the Head Coach, the selection of his back room staff as well as the number of years he will be engaged.

Also, other conditions with which to terminate or extend the contract will be topics for discussion when he comes for the meeting with his employer.

“We have not discussed the details of the contract with Finidi George.Very soon he will be invited to Abuja to finalize on the number of years of his contract, the amount to be paid by the NFF and members the coaching Crew.” Then other conditions leading to whether to extend or end the contract will be topics for discussion when he comes.” He said.
