Fury promoter blasts Joshua for fight against unknown Miller

Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has dismissed Anthony Joshua’s possible next opponent Jarrell Miller, declaring that he “means nothing” in his own country.

The veteran fight-maker is currently working on a rematch between his heavyweight Fury and WBC champion Deontay Wilder following their disputed December draw.

Meanwhile, Joshua’s representative Eddie Hearn has approached Fury with an alternative arrangement – proposing he fights Joshua on April 13 at Wembley – though Warren doesn’t expect this to come to fruition.

The 67-year-old told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT: “Regarding where we are with any negotiations with Hearn, I’ve not spoken to anybody from the Hearn camp.

“Eddie Hearn got in touch with Tyson and made a derisory offer and that was the last of it.

“It seems to me that they’ve lost the fight with Dillian Whyte, he’s been in the States talking to other promoters.

“He himself said he got a derisory offer, so I’m not sure whether they’re still going to go on April 13 at Wembley.

“And there’s talk of him fighting Jarrell Miller in the States, making his American debut, but Miller means nothing in America, he’s totally unknown.

“Anthony Joshua must be kicking himself at the moment, wondering what happened to the $80million that he turned down to fight Wilder [including rematch].”

Miller is a 300+lbs American heavyweight who has made a name for himself by putting his charismatic persona on display while campaigning to 23-0-1 (20 KOs).

‘Big Baby’ is a strong possibility for AJ’s next fight having already confronted the Brit last summer, however he is arguably yet to record a significant win that justifies a title shot.

Hearn insists Miller is Joshua’s fourth choice opponent for his next bout, and that Wilder, Fury and Whyte all remain above him in the pecking order.

Hearn’s father, Barry, is also still involved in the Matchroom business and Frank Warren believes he is behind AJ’s recent career choices.

“Barry [Hearn]’s an accountant by trade, that’s how he is,” Warren continued.

“As Barry’s said in many previous interviews, they see Anthony Joshua as a seven- year situation.

“He don’t care whether he fights Wilder or Fury, all he cares about is the fact he can sell a lot of tickets and they can make money from it.

“That’s fair enough if that’s the road they wanna go down, but I don’t think the public are standing for that anymore.”
