Emiliano Sala’s sister pays tribute after Police confirm brother’s death

Emiliano Sala’s sister has posted a heartbreaking tribute to her brother after Dorset Police confirmed the death of the Cardiff City striker.

A body was recovered from the plane wreckage in the English Channel earlier this week, with police confirming on Thursday night that it was that of Sala.

And following the tragic news, the 28-year-old’s sister Romina has posted a moving tribute to her brother on social media.

“Your soul in my soul will shine forever, thus illuminating the time of my existence. I love you,” she wrote on Instagram.

The UK Air Accident Investigation Branch confirmed on Wednesday that they had successfully recovered the body from the plane wreckage in “challenging conditions”, while the operation to recover the aircraft was aborted.

The body was passed into the care of the Coroner of Dorset, with formal identification taking place on Wednesday.

And late on Thursday night, Dorset Police issued the following statement.

“The body brought to Portland Port today, Thursday 7 February 2019, has been formally identified by HM Coroner for Dorset as that of professional footballer Emiliano Sala,” the statement read.

“The families of Mr Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson have been updated with this news and will continue to be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers. Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.

“HM Coroner will continue to investigate the circumstances of this death supported by Dorset Police.
