Aftermath of Chelsea defeat: Mourinho lampoons ref Marriner

Tottenham Coach Jose Mourinho has  given center referee Andre Marriner a piece of his mind after his side lost by a lone goal on Thursday night .

The former Man U sweat merchant said though Andre was one of the refs he respect he performed below par on the night in question.

Jose  told  Marriner that he “didn’t like his performance” in Tottenham’s defeat to Chelsea.

Spurs lost the Premier League clash with Jorginho netting the only  goal of the game from the penalty spot.

The penalty was awarded after Eric Dier’s clumsy challenge on Timo Werner while there seemed to be few other contentious moments.

But Mourinho, who lost back-to-back home matches for the first time as a manager, was not impressed with the performance of Marriner.

“I told him something that he knows already which is that I consider him one of the best referees in the Premier League and I care for him,” Mourinho explained after the defeat.

“He’s a referee that I have a big admiration [for] and that gives me probably a good position to tell him that I didn’t like his performance so it was basically like that.

“I have a very good relationship with Andre so that gives me a good position to tell him that I didn’t like the performance.”

Tottenham had chances through Erik Lamela, Heung-Min Son and Lucas, while Carlos Vinicius headed wide.

And Mourinho wanted to take the positives, adding: “The first half wasn’t easy. They were dominating us, they created some imbalance in our left side, it wasn’t easy.

“In the second half, completely different. We were the best team, we pressed higher, recovered the ball faster, getting more players into attacking areas and in the second half, I believe we deserved more than what we got
