A Look At The Top Nigerian Football Players Aiming High For 2022

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are aiming to make an impact in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Spread across top European leagues, they have a strong set of players, and there is more to come.

Super Eagles, who are now placed 32 in FIFA’s rankings, have qualified for six of the previous eight World Cups since 1990. Many people believe that their finest performance was in the 1994 tournament. They failed to go past the second round in 2018, which prompted the Nigerian football governing body to make changes. There is a new wave of optimism amongst sports and sports betting enthusiasts on Betway, as they hope the new generation of players will bring back the lost glory days.

Soccer fans around Africa are gearing up to watch the qualifying games with bated breath, praying for their favorite teams’ success. And, of course, bettors from all around the world will wager on who will make it into the tournament lineup.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho, one of Nigeria’s top players, has already earned a name for himself since joining Manchester City in 2015. He now plays for Leicester City, with whom he has scored nine goals in 74 appearances.

He has 27 caps with the Super Eagles and 9 goals to his name. Despite not making the final 23-man team for the 2018 World Cup, he is expected to play a significant role in the build-up to the 2022 event. Ihenacho will definitely be among the favourites on betting platforms, like Betway,  to emerge the top scorer for Nigeria in the tournament.

Samuel Chukwueze

Since 2018, the young Villarreal midfielder has progressed from the junior team to the senior squad. Chukwueze is getting valuable experience for his young age, having made over 75 games in La Liga, and recently winning the UEFA Europa League with the Yellow Submarines.

He has 15 caps for the Super Eagles and will try to add to his already illustrious resume during the upcoming round of international call-ups.

Victor Osimhen

The teenager from Napoli has already made the starting lineup for the Serie A side under Gennaro Gattuso. Osimhen started his European career at Wolfsburg before moving to Italy, where he has two goals in six appearances. He has a devastating record for Nigeria, scoring four goals in nine appearances for the Super Eagles, and is without a doubt one of the country’s most promising young players.

Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi has been a reliable performer for the Super Eagles throughout his career, having played 100 games for Arsenal and Everton in the EPL.

He has seven goals in 42 appearances for the Super Eagles, including two goals in a friendly against Argentina in 2017. Iwobi will be one of Nigeria’s most important players as the country prepares for the 2022 World Cup.

Wilfred Ndidi

With over 100 games for Leicester City, the defensive midfielder has cemented his place in the Premier League as one of the best in his role.  He’s well renowned for his aggressive defense and goal-scoring long-range shots. He has over 30 caps for the Super Eagles, and should be a valuable addition for the squad as they prepare for the 2022 World Cup.
