Abraham delays Roma tests after England ankle scare

There are mixed reports over why England international Tammy Abraham missed his flight from London, but Roma will only be able to perform tests on a sprained ankle tomorrow.

The striker lasted just 17 minutes as a substitute for England during the 1-1 draw at Wembley Stadium last night before limping off following a knock.

Initial reports suggest a sprained right ankle, which he has struggled with before during his time at Chelsea.

Abraham was expected back in Rome this afternoon, with medical tests booked for the Villa Stuart clinic this evening.

However, according to Calciomercato.com, the forward did not get on the flight he was scheduled for, only arriving with a later plane.

This means Roma probably won’t get the results of any tests on his ankle until tomorrow morning.

There are growing fears it might be a ligament issue, while there were also rumours in the Roman media that Abraham postponed his return because he wanted to have tests done in London first.

The Giallorossi have some very big games coming up, including Juventus this weekend, a must-win Europa League meeting with Bodo/Glimt, followed by Napoli, Cagliari and Milan in Serie A.
