AFCON U-23: Why Belgian club stopped Gift Orban from Olympics playoffs

Belgian club KAA Gent have stopped Gift Orban from Wednesday’s 2024 Olympics playoff against Guinea so that he could get a good rest during the international break.

According to HLN, Gent insisted that their sensational striker has played a lot of football in recent weeks and now needs some rest and as such he will not be released to coach Salisu Yusuf’s team.

Orban is one of three players who Gent will not let go on international duty.

The January signing has netted 12 goals in nine appearances in all competitions thus far.
