Akinkunmi insists he is focused despite multiple suitors’ pressure

 

Former Nigeria U-17 ace and Hammarby midfielder Akinkunmi Amoo is not allowing his numerous suitors distract him.

The Ibadan born midfielder who has become a subject of many transfer speculations in recent times insists he is focusing on doing well for his current Swedish club.

The 18 year-old  is being watched by Leicester City, Atlético Madrid, Valencia, Borussia Dortmund and Ajax.

But Amoo told Fotbolldirekt.se: “Of course (I know about the rumours), but I do not listen. I am in Hammarby and have my focus here where I have a long contract.”

Furthermore, Amoo denies that he or his agent have had contact with foreign clubs.

“No no. Not with anyone.”

Amoo was born in Ibadan, and started playing youth football at Brightville Academy. In his teens, he moved to Lagos to join Sidos FC.

On 8 June 2020, shortly after his 18th birthday, Amoo transferred to the Swedish club Hammarby IF on a four-year contract. He made his competitive debut in Allsvenskan on 14 September, in a 2–2 home draw against Helsingborgs IF

Amoo began his international career with Nigeria in the 2019 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, and scored in his debut in a 5–4 group stage win against Tanzania, where they finished fourth in the tournament. Later the same year, Amoo was part of the Nigerian squad that got knocked out in the round of 16 during the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup
