Alampasu renews claim for Super Eagles shirt with Feirense
Goalkeeper Dele Alampasu believes his Super Eagles’ career is back on track after making a clean slate for Feirense in the goalless draw against Rio Ave in the Portuguese Primera Liga match on Sunday.
Alampasu was recently recalled by Feirense after stint as a loanee to Cesarense in the Campeonato de Portugal and the former junior reportedly pulled some inspired saves to secure a precious point for Feirense in the away match at Estádio do Rio Ave.
“I thank God today for a good performance for my club in an away match today
Sunday) against Rio Ave,” explained the 22-year-old.
“ It was a great game for me despite the fact that it was my first start and first game for Feirense.
“ Of course, I’m happy that I was fielded for this particular match.
“It’s left for others to judge my performance but I am satisfied and I pray I can get more opportunities with Feirense.”
Alampasu, who was crowned the Best Goalkeeper when he helped the Golden Eaglets to win the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the UAE, has been surplus to requirement in the Super Eagles, under Franco-German coach Gernot Rohr on account of playing in the lower division
with Cesarense.
But he believes his chances of playing for the Super Eagles is now well on course if he ties down the number one position at Feirense.
“I’m in constant touch with Coach Gernot Rohr and he wants me to be playing regularly for my club,” hinted Alampasu. “The coach (Rohr) wants me to be playing and I hope everything would be better very soon.“
