Amosun meets with Joshua’s father

Governor Ibikunle Amosun on Tuesday received Mr. Jonathan Joshua, father of the Nigerian Born British Boxer, Anthony Joshua, and described him as a good Ambassador of the State.

Jonathan Taiwo Joshua, father of Anthony Joshua, hails from Sagamu, Ogun State.

Amosun who hosted Joshua at his Oke – Mosan Governor’s Office, Abeokuta, the state capital, also lauded the man’sexceptional attitude, despite his status.

The Governor said he was particularly delighted at the warm reception given him by his son – the world heavy weight boxing champion, when he(Amosun) visited United Kingdom, to watch Joshua’s last match.

He also lauded the son for identifying with his root, noting that such attitude would place him among the world’s greatest sportsmen.

“I was so delighted by his show of love during my last visit to watch his match in the United Kingdom.

“His enthusiasm to identify with his root is so amazing and I want to say with confidence that with such attitude, he will be among the world greatest sportsmen,” Amosun said.

Responding, Joshua hailed the State government and Nigeria for the recognition accorded his family.

He said his son is a disciplined and devoted sportsman, who still has plenty to offer the boxing world.
