Amuneke applauds Ugbade; tips Eaglets for future success

Emmanuel Amuneke had heaped praises on Nigeria’s U17 MNT and head Coach, Nduka Ugbade for the team’s performance at the ongoing Cup of Nations in Algeria.

Amuneke, who worked with Ugbade and Manu Garba in 2013 before taking charge of the U17 team himself in 2015, revealed that the team mirrors the coach’s personality.

“First of all I acknowledge Nduka Ugbade for a very good job he is doing. Those of us that have been in this position know how difficult and challenging it is as a coach to raise a team at that level I think Nduka is doing very well,” the 2015 U17 World Cup winning coach said.

“Working with Nduka Ugbade and looking at the team, I know how passionate he is and I know how he is focused in terms of emphasizing how he wants his team to play.

“When we look at the game against Morocco they played a very good game but sometimes football does not only depend on how good you are, it also depends on what the opponent is presenting to you. I think the Moroccan team was able to defend compactly and very well.

Amuneke also tipped most of the Eaglets squad members to progress and play for the Super Eagles in the future.

“I was privileged to watch the game against Morocco I think they have a very good team, they have individual brilliance, and they play good football, you could see the intention of the team; they want to play good football which is a very important thing at this level looking at the technical aspect of the players.

“The players are good and they are players that we hope to see play at the senior level in the future.”
