Anthony Okpotu eyes move to Germany

Nigeria international Anthony Okpotu has set his sights on a move away from Tunisian side US Monastir and continue his professional career in Germany, Sportinglife.ng reports.

The former Lobi Stars forward was star of the campaign in just concluded 2019-2020 Tunisian Ligue one season as he bagged 13 goals to finish as the highest goal scorer for his team.

Okpotu, who arrived modest US Monastir after spending the 2019 season at Albanian club KF Laçi on loan from Morocco side Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi, is already aiming higher with a move to Europe.

“My aspiration is always to do better and go higher than my present stage. Right now, I won’t lie, we have a lot of offers and we are looking at them. As it is now, it’s possible I might leave or remain in Tunisia league and maybe not with Monestry.

“There are offers from Germany in Europe, Middle East and within Africa too. My ambition is to play at the top level where I can compete for trophies internationally. Concerning the offers I have right now, my first option will be to go to Germany,” he told Sportzone.

Okpotu’s goals went a long way to help US Monastir finish third on the table, a result that qualifies them for the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in their history.

“I’m happy for the team and I am happy as an individual. I’m very happy that we’ve been able to achieve something as a group and myself being the highest goal scorer, I’m grateful to God for this achievement,” he said.
