Antonio Conte on the march again!

 

Former Chelsea and Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte has been saddled with the job of returning Tottenham to winning ways and perhaps contest for top four finish this season and beyond.  The 52 year old Italian was officially confirmed Tuesday after putting paid to the reign of Nuno Esposito Santo who like Roland Korman was sent packing for results considered below par.

Conte’s last job was with Inter Milan joining them on 31st may 2019 On 26 August 2019, Inter Milan won their first league match of the season by 4–0 against Lecce .Inter finished second behind Juventus in the Serie A title race. Inter also reached the final of the Europa League, but suffered a 3–2 defeat to Sevilla in Cologne on 21 August 2020.

Following Atalanta’s draw against Sassuolo on 2 May 2021, Internazionale were confirmed as champions for the first time in eleven years, ending Juventus’s run of nine consecutive titles.

However, despite achieving Serie A glory, on 26 May 2021, Inter announced that Conte had left the club by mutual consent. The departure was reportedly due to disagreements Conte had with the club’s board over transfers for the following season

His new baby Tottenham are 9th on the premier league log, can he cataput them to the top four?

Conte said: ‘I am extremely happy to return to coaching, and to do so at a Premier League club that has the ambition to be a protagonist again.

‘Tottenham Hotspur has state-of-the-art facilities and one of the best stadiums in the world. I can’t wait to start working to convey to the team and the fans the passion, mentality and determination that have always distinguished me, as a player and as a coach.

‘Last summer our union did not happen because the end of my relationship with Inter was still too recent and emotionally too involved with the end of the season, so I felt that it wasn’t yet the right time to return to coaching.

‘But the contagious enthusiasm and determination of Daniel Levy in wanting to entrust me with this task had already hit the mark. Now that the opportunity has returned, I have chosen to take it with great conviction.’

Conte worked away from Inter because he reportedly did not receive the needed corporation to sign some players.  Already it has been reported that he has penciled down some players will Spurs management give him the go ahead and provide the funds for him to do so? At least he is happy to return to the premier league all eyes now on Conte!
