Arsenal eye up Real Madrid outcast as Lacazette replacement

Arsenal “will make a loan offer” with an option to buy for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, according to reports.

The Serbia international cost Madrid £50million in 2019, joining from German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

Since then he has only scored twice in 38 appearances for the La Liga giants – returning to Frankfurt on loan last season.

The Gunners currently have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun as striker options.

However, Lacazette and Nketiah are both out of contract at the Emirates next summer, with an extension for either player looking unlikely

The French striker could even leave the club in January. However, he has emerged as an important player for Mikel Arteta in recent weeks.

If he does move on in the winter transfer window, Jovic could be an ideal replacement.

And according to Ekrem Konur, Arsenal are eyeing up a move for the 23-year-old, who would likely cost around half of what Madrid paid for him.

He tweeted: “Arsenal will make a loan offer for Luka Jovic with an option to buy to Real Madrid.

“Spanish giants want €25m to sell the Serbian striker.”

Jovic is also a reported Liverpool target. Manager Jurgen Klopp has ‘personally requested’ the club make a move for the player, claim Fichajes

The Reds’ forwards have been in fine goalscoring form this season, with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Divock Origi contributing 34 goals in all competitions.
