Atletico Madrid loanee chooses Spain over Nigeria

Atletico Madrid loanee Samuel Omorodion has made a decision on his international future, saying he dreams of representing Spain’s senior national team.

Born in Melilla, Spain nineteen years ago to Nigerian parents, Omorodion is eligible to wear the colours of his country of birth as well as three-time African champions Nigeria.

Omorodion became provisionally cap-tied to Spain on July 4, 2023, after coming off the bench for the final eighteen minutes of a 2-1 victory against Iceland in a European U19 Championship qualifier.

He is one step away from realizing his dream of representing La Roja given his current status as a key member of the U21 squad.

On a personal level, Omorodion is enjoying success at his loan club Alaves, for whom he has scored eight goals in 27 outings in the Spanish top-flight and has provided an assist.
