Reports have emerged that the former Gunners club captain will be confirmed as Emery’s replacement in the coming days, possibly even in time to take charge of this weekend’s Premier League trip to Everton.

His brother, Willy, was himself a professional footballer, having started his career at AC Milan and gone on to represent the Gabonese national team.

“Ljungberg Arteta is the same thing,” he wrote. “No experience.”

Aubameyang has been a rare shining light in a difficult season for Arsenal, and is their top scorer, having found the net 13 times in all competitions.

The Gunners job would be Arteta’s first as a manager, with his coaching experience thus far coming as an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
