Balogun celebrates first goal for Eagles in World Cup qualifier

Rangers defender, Leon Balogun, was the happiest man on earth on Sunday when he scored Nigeria’s first goal against the Centra African Republic in the World Cup qualifier.

In the end, Balogun said: “My first goal in seven years! I have been looking forward so much for it and I am happy it finally came, and on a day like this.”

On the flight back to Lagos aboard the Air Peace aircraft, the players celebrated Captain Musa who won his 101st cap on the day by standing around him as two other players held aloft a jersey signed by all his teammates.

 

The concluding round of matches (Day 5 and 6 games) are in November. The Eagles will travel to Monrovia to play Liberia, while Central African Republic fly to Mindelo to tackle the Blue Sharks on Day 5. On the final day, Nigeria host Cape Verde in Lagos while Liberia fly to Douala to play Central African Republic.
