Banknotes with Maradona’s image goes in circulation

A small town in south-east Italy has decided to issue banknotes with Diego Maradona’s image on the front.

Enrico Fratangelo, the mayor of Castellino del Biferno, is behind the idea.

“We consider Maradona a hero of the southern hemisphere,” said Fratangelo.

“Argentina sent us a true hero who always stuck up for the poor and never gave in to mercenary logic.

“After Diego, the south of Italy and the south of the world have reopened their minds and submissive peoples have become equals. So, long live Maradona and long live freedom!”
