Barcelona, Rolling Stones tango for El Classico

Barcelona have concluded arrangement with legendary band Rolling Stones for their home kit ahead of forthcoming El Classico against Real Madrid on October 28.

The club announced that Rolling Stones logo will feature on the front of their home kit  as part of their ongoing partnership with Spotify.

The Spanish giants said the tongue and lips logo of the band will replace the Spotify logo for the match at the Estadi Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium.

Barcelona said the move will put the Rolling Stones, the legendary band formed by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, on the global stage of the Clasico for the first time.

The agreement will promote the Rolling Stones new album ‘Hackney Diamonds’, which is being released on October 20. The album is the Rolling Stones first release of new material in 18 years.

‘We’re huge football fans and honoured that Spotify have brought our Tongue & Lips logo to grace the FC Barcelona shirt to celebrate the release of the Stones’ new ‘Hackney Diamonds’ album,’ the Rolling Stones said.

‘We’ll be cheering on the players on the pitch as well as fans around the world who will be tuning in to watch this iconic match.’

Barcelona added that the band’s logo will also feature on the women’s team’s kit for their match against Sevilla on November 5 at Estadi Johan Cruyff.

Spotify had previously given up their place on Barcelona’s shirt during the two Clasicos last season.

Canadian singer Drake’s owl logo displayed on the kit in a 3-1 away defeat against Real Madrid.

Catalan musician Rosalia’s Motomami design featured on the shirt for Barcelona’s 2-1 home win against their rivals last March.

Barcelona and Spotify’s partnership officially began in 2022, with the streaming service sponsoring the club’s senior shirts for the next four seasons, as well as on the kits of the club’s pro academies.

The club’s 99,354-seat stadium, which is undergoing redevelopment this season, was renamed Spotify Camp Nou as part of the deal.

The Rolling Stones will also release special editions of their new album featuring Barcelona’s club crest, along with a retro shirt inspired by the fashion of the 1960s when the band was formed.

Rolling Stones have previously partnered with French giants PSG.
