Bartomeu: Napoli clash will cost us €6m

Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, says they’ll lose €6 MILLION from next week’s Champions League clash with Napoli.

It’s been announced Barca’s home-leg against Napoli for the Champions League round 16 tie next week will be played at an empty Nou Camp.

Bartomeu said, “We have had a meeting with the Generalitat and there has been a strong recommendation. When it comes to health, it is an obligation. We regret this because it will affect the members, the fans and the world of soccer. We are living in an exceptional moment.

“In the late hours, the Government has announced that every match will be behind closed doors. Napoli is sure to come. What has been more important has been the cancellation of the matches in Spain, which will be behind closed doors.

“There is an economic loss, not only for the Barcelona, but for all the clubs that play behind closed doors. It is necessary to realise that it is necessary to respect some norms. It is everyone’s problem. Money is a secondary component, health first. Then you can put the economic damage at around six million euros.”
