Belgian League: Gent threaten court action over Orban VAR drama

Belgian club KAA Gent have threatened to go all the way to court over an incident where Gift Orban’s mouth was bloodied by an elbow against Club Brugge, but there was no intervention by either VAR or the referee.

TV replays showed Buchanan of Club Brugge gave Orban a bloody mouth during last Sunday’s match.

In an open letter, Gent described the foul as “an obvious red card offence” and maintained it is unacceptable.

The club said they will also petition the referees department and would be forced to take this case to the court should they not be satisfied with answers to their questions.

Orban himself has said he was baffled when the referee failed to take any action even when he saw his mouth was bloodied.
