Bolton appoint Okocha as backroom staff

Former Nigeria international Austin Jay Jay Okocha has been appointed as a member of the backroom staff
for Championship side Bolton Wanderers as they look forward to the 2018/2019 season.

 

 

Okocha’s new role was announced on the Twitter handle of UK based football agent, John Harriot on Monday.

“The African Prince Jay-Jay Okocha is set to join the Bolton Wanderers backroom staff. Will be a great
influence on the young players at the club #BWFC,”” tweeted Harriot who has over 17 years in the
football business.

Okocha, a former Bolton player who ended up as captain leading the side to their first Cup final in nine years, where they finished runners-up in the 2004 Football League Cup to Middlesbrough FC in the English Premier League.

With his appointment, Okocha experience’s will be a plus to the young players who will be looking up to him to shape their career.

A member of the Nigeria Football Federation, technical study group, the Bolton role would be Okocha’s
first assignment with a club that are pursuing a return to the premier league.

One of the most sought after Nigeria retired footballers globally, Okocha who is also the chairman of
the Delta Stata Football Association was voted Bolton’s best player ever in a poll conducted last
year.
