Bonfrere Jo sighted at Agege Stadium, in Nigeria on scouting mission

Former Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Bonfrere Jo is in Nigeria on a scouting mission.
The former Under-23 strategist was spotted at the Lagos Agege stadium on Saturday when Home Eagles played Togo in the CHAN qualifier.

Dressed in the current Super Eagles’ home attire, which bears his name at the back, the Dutch tactician was with two Chinese men who were also dressed in Super Eagles’ shirts.

The Dutch most memorable career remains the 1996 Olympic Games outing with Nwankwo Kanu led Under-23 team to the Atlanta Olympic Games where they won the football gold medal.

Investigation revealed that he came to Nigeria with the Chinese who are scouts and agents for talent hunting in a football tournament being organised by Kick to Glory.

He remarked after the match that the eliminated Nigerian side put up a good fight, but their tactical approach to the game was suspect.

He reasoned that the Nigerian attackers were often making use of high balls against tall defenders of the Togolese who more than often had seven players defending.

To him, that explained why the Nigerian side could not get the desired result. On the state of the Nigerian league in comparison to the 1990s when he was around, the Dutch man, who handled the Nigerian side that became the first team outside Europe in 68 years to win the gold medal of the football event of the Olympic Games said he had not monitored the current state of the league to make a credible statement.
