Boxing: Anthony Joshua intensifies readiness ahead of rematch with Oleksandr Usyk

Anthony Joshua continues his preparation for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.

He has taken to Instagram to show off his new physique as he looks to set the record straight and get his revenge on Usyk and take his belts back.

The 32-year-old has been in his training camp with him now under new trainers. Angel Fernandez and Robert Garcia are the new names in AJ’s corner as he looks to get back to winning ways.

Joshua is clearly being worked hard by the new duo, with him sharing a picture of himself receiving a massage on his Instagram story, captioning it with: “A moment of calm.”

It’s a new era for Joshua, not only will it be his first fight after leaving his long serving cornerman, Rob McCracken, but it will also be his first fight as part of the DAZN stable after leaving Sky Sports.

He joins Eddie Hearn in switching the UK broadcasting powerhouse for the new kid on the block in DAZN, who are really making massive strides forward with boxing.

AJ has relocated to Loughborough for his training, completing a full revamp, including developing a new physique as he looks to be in the best shape possible.

His plan is to return to a brutal and aggressive, looking to make a return to leaving his mark on the appearance of those that step into the ring with him.

When making those claims, he said: “I saw he’s got a slice scar on his eye, from me. I was thinking back, I have cut up a few people’s faces in my career; Paul Butlin, Usyk, I split Kubrat Pulev’s lip.

“I just grazed Andy Ruiz, he doesn’t count ‘cos I mean properly smashing faces in. I like that stuff.

“One of my strengths was my power but I always wanted to go down that path of being a clean boxer, ‘hit and not get hit’, especially if I want to have a long and successful career.

“You need to have good defence but I moved away from the ferocious side of boxing where I knew I could hit and stun people and I do miss the days of slicing people’s faces open and hurting them, for sure.

“So I am looking forward to getting back to that.” It clearly looks like Joshua vs Usyk 2 is going to be a fight no one wants to miss.
