The Bundesliga was Europe’s first major league to resume their season during the coronavirus pandemic after a two month hiatus.

According to data that MARCA have had access to, 12 of the injuries came in the Bundesliga and two in the Bundesliga 2.

Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim were the worst affected, with two injuries each – Giovanni Reyna and Thorgan Hazard for Dortmund and Sebastian Rudy and Ihlas Bebou for Hoffenheim.

During the Bundesliga’s ‘pre-season’ ahead of a return to action, 62 percent (18 out of 29 in total) of the injuries picked up were muscular.

There are concerns over the amount of muscular problems players could encounter having been out of action for a period like two or three months.

It’s thought that quicker players, like Eden Hazard, Inaki Williams and Vinicius Junior, will be more susceptible to this type of injury, although younger players are thought to recover quicker.
