C/League: Benzema cautions overconfident Liverpool Fans

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema believes that Liverpool fans over being overconfident ahead of Saturday’s huge Champions League final against Real Madrid.

The France forward has been in magnificent form all season, notching 44 goals in 45 games in all competitions, including 16 in Real’s battling run to the final in Paris.

Indeed, his matchwinning performances have accounted for PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City in the knockout rounds.

Benzema’s deadly displays have already accounted for Paris Saint-Germain as well as Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City.

And Benzema is now on the hunt for a Premier League treble, as he looks to take down Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.

Real are regarded as the slight underdogs for the showpiece final, despite the fact they are hunting their 14th European Cup success.

That is largely down to Liverpool’s status as cup kings this season. The Reds did the domestic cup double, having beaten Chelsea in both the Carabao and FA Cup finals.

However, Benzema feels the Anfield faithful are misguided if they think the trophy is already in the bank.

He told Movistar: “Liverpool have a lot of confidence. They think they have already won the match, maybe.

“Maybe they think this isn’t the same Real Madrid as last time, these things. Maybe they think they’re favourites.”
