CAF President Motsepe Scores tournament high predicts bumper future

CAF President Patrice Motsepe has scored the ongoing 34th AFCON in Cote d Ivoire high even as he predicted that subsequent editions will continue to be bigger and better.

Motsepe who has been superintending the affairs of the Continental body since 2021 after being elected in March 12, 2021 hailed the massive interest in the tournament both within an outside the continent.

“We have had close to 2 Billion people watching AFCON globally. We should be proud as Africans and the next one will be even better”, he enthused.

Motsepe who is the owner of South Africa Premier league club Memolodi Sundowns has since assuming office been making introductions with intent to also develop the game at the grassroots.

AFCON the apogee of football competition in Africa has always been full of action as African countries continue to battle for supremacy.

The final of this year’s edition the 34th in the series takes place tomorrow with Super Eagles of Nigeria taking on hosts Elephants of Cote d Ivoire.

While the Ivorians are seeking their third victory after previously winning in 1992 and 2015, Nigeria will be aiming to clinch the title for the fourth time after previously winning in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
